国家艺术作品展览日由美国国家艺术作品集协会承办。协会为非盈利组织，成立于1978年，由各美术、艺术和电影学校的代表组成。美国国家艺术作品集展览日在美国，加拿大和法国三地召开，代表了视觉艺术教育的业内最高水平。
国家艺术作品集展览日是特意为视觉艺术家和设计师举行的活动。活动为准备学习艺术的学生搭建平台，让他们有机会和来自各个艺术设计类大学的招生官见面。招生官会评论学生的艺术作品，向学生介绍大学项目，帮助学生规划艺术事业，回答学生问题。 高中学生，学生家长，老师，顾问都可以参加。每年在多伦多举办的作品集日，加学优培都有学生参加这个活动。很多知名院校到场，有我们熟悉的加拿大艺术名校OCAD、Ryerson、Sheridan、Emily Carr等，也会有英美艺术名校包括罗德岛设计学院，Parsons, Pratt, 芝加哥艺术学院，UAL等。
举办展览日有多重目的，其中最重要的是帮助年轻的艺术家发展艺术事业，让他们有机会得到大学招生官的指导。来自全世界的对艺术感兴趣的学生齐聚一堂，他们可以交流经验和信息，探讨自己的艺术作品，大学计划等。
学生呈现的作品集应该包括自己最佳的和近期的作品，也可以包括正在进行中的作品。在作品集日学生应该尽可能多的和不同大学的招生官交流，接受指导，接收到多种意见，以改进自己的作品。
